FLIPSIDE / INVISIBLE HOMELESSNESS
With home ownership rates of 90.3%, Singapore is the last place you would expect to find homeless people. Homelessness in Singapore is an issue that is not addressed and many do not realize that this occurs in their own backyard. Such ignorance impedes our ability to become an inclusive society.
FlipSide is a bag that transforms into a mat.
On one hand, it is a durable mat, suited for the wear and tear that is part of the lifestyle of the city nomads. Yet, consumers can enjoy a sturdy bag that is versatile for many occasions. The same security straps and concealed pouch to deter theft are concealed as aesthetic features for consumers.
FlipSide’s dual functions seek to remind us that there is always more to a situation than meets the eye. In this project, we hope that users will remember the flip side to homelessness in Singapore.
